A judgmental and "morally superior" attitude is projected.

They speak of Mother Nature rather than give glory to Creator God Almighty.

The idea that more governmental control can replace good morals is promoted.
The message is that government or socialism in some form can solve all problems and bring about human-produced "utopia." Government dependency is promoted.
A powerful one-world government is often presented as the solution.
The theory of evolution is presented as if it were fact.
Covetousness is used to rally support for various agendas.
False peace movements are promoted.
There is a tendency to speak of passivity while endorsing violence.
Addiction to entertainment is promoted.
Addictions such as gambling, drinking, perversion or promiscuity are promoted.
Strong emphasis is put on seeking pleasure and seeking wealth.
The doctrine is taught: do as thou wilt and the ability to pick one's own tenets from among many liberal tenets.
The doctrine is taught: every person has his or her own reality.
Believing in relativism: moral, spiritual, or physical.
Feeling that, "My opinion is just as valid as yours, there is no longer a moral boundary everything is good.
Banishment of the knowledge of truth.
That there is no such thing as a lie.
The abnormal is considered the new normal
Believing that there is no right or wrong, just winners and losers.
Ability to hold two or more mutually exclusive tenets to be true at the same time is presented as sane.
Compartmentalization of areas of thought to allow for conflicting and chaotic thought processes.
Rationalized speculation is presented as the source for knowledge and wisdom.

I say human morality is improving.
Christians use to burn "witches" to death.
We would hang Aboriginal Americans for no reason other than being who they are.
We would hang black men and women for being black.
Slavery has ended.
The Japanese use to murder each other in civil wars but now have the lowest murder rate in the world.
Sure there is still violence in the world but it is far less than it was in the past and slowly gets better over time.
There are certain things that get pushed into law that actually cause violence to rise. Some of which is outlawing drugs, prostitution and guns.

Or he could just be a bigot looking for some pseudo religious excuse to justify bigotry and hate. Nothing stands out better than black on white, and if he's lying about something as mundane as his use of colour than he'll lie about anything.
It's all so depressingly formulaic, someone comes on claiming to have some revelation about the universe but instead they want to justify their small minded bigotry.
You're right though, he could be a closet, some of the most rabid bigots are closets, and the fact that he uses homosexual as an insult is typical closet behaviour.
