WINDOWS XP HOME

I had my computer re-formatted recently and I found that when I went to Yahoo Games to play Bridge there was no Java Applet to allow me to go to the Room State and join a game. I was advised to download Java Applet from Sun Microsystems which I did. I then found that a grey task bar which said something like "Java Applet running", was obscuring the "Chat" Box at the bottom of the Game Frame. How do I get rid of this Task Bar? Thanks
