@centrox,
Disgusting, but not surprising. Americans seem to have a taste for our trash, Farage, Piers Morgan, Russell Brand, Ricky Gervais, they certainly like mediocrity.

@izzythepush,
Oddly, my post above stands at 3 thumbs up (at present!) whereas yours agreeing with it and giving the names of a few more British twats, despised over here but admired over there, stands at -2.

I am tempted to add Tracy Ullman who has pissed me off with her Nicola Sturgeon impersonation. Nicola can do no wrong in our house, and if there is a Yes in Indyref2, and Scotland gets to stay in the EU, we would be looking at house prices in Edinburgh or nearby. Seriously.

@centrox,
I think I'm getting thumbed down by the usual idiots, but those who thumb me up have probably taken umbrage at what they perceive to be an anti American post.

Maybe this will explain. In order to understand my point of view imagine a comedian like Carrot Top being incredibly popular over here. Wouldn't you be incredulous?

As it is two American comics probably more popular over here than in America are really good.

Ahem. I might point out that the BBC was all set to end Monty Python and tape over the videotapes to save money, (talk about cheap), which would end the video record of the comedy troupe forever. Then the Americans came rushing in on their white horses wearing their white hats and saved the day via a distribution deal in the US.

And that proves what exactly? We got over Monty Python. These days they are much more popular in the USA than in Britain. John Cleese is a wanker.

@centrox,
Huge cult following in Australia, as well. Cleese is more widely-known for his work in Fawlty Towers.

He's more switched-on than many others in the industry. That curly-headed knob fronting up Top Gear is a genuine wanker, though.

So's the Queen, but she's still around.

He made a lot of money doing corporate training videos after Python. He supports UKIP.

The Queen can't be a wanker, by definition. Her eldest son can be, and is.

Yeah, I meant in Australia. What's UKIP an acronym for? Just watched a short video where he said that London is no longer an English city.

Jeremy something. I don't watch a lot of telly, but he always kind of grated on some nerve. I guess he appealed to some classist twats.

Mother's family is from Kent, BTW. Not that I have ever visited, but my sister goes over every few years, with her English hubby, who's also from Kent.

@Blickers,
Pity they didn't do the same with the far superior Not Only But Also, and Doctor Who. The world could definitely have done without Benny Hill.

Doesn't really change anything I've said.

Nothing wrong with a bit of slapstick comedy.

Our Hoges carried the baton as well.

@centrox,
How cute, McGentrix thinks he can upset us by insulting Liz. The more he tries to pretend he knows something about Britain, the more clichéd he becomes.

Next he'll be talking about the London fog and saying 'Loverley.'

UK Independence Party (independence from Europe)

That's his kind of people's code for "it's full of darkies".

Fallen for the propaganda. Lots of that type in Australia.

Heard of Pauline Hanson? Her One Nation party is creating division wherever they go. Ironically her acronym is the PHONies.

Westminster attacker Khalid Masood acted alone and there is no information to suggest further attacks are planned, Scotland Yard has said.

Masood killed three people and injured 50 when he drove a car into pedestrians on Wednesday. He then fatally stabbed a police officer before being shot dead by police - all within 82 seconds.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu said: "We still believe that Masood acted alone on the day and there is no information or intelligence to suggest there are further attacks planned.

"Even if he acted alone in the preparation, we need to establish with absolute clarity why he did these unspeakable acts to bring reassurance to Londoners, and to provide answers and closure for the families of those killed and the victims and survivors of this atrocity.

"We must all accept that there is a possibility we will never understand why he did this. That understanding may have died with him.

"Nevertheless, we are determined to understand if Masood was a lone actor inspired by terrorist propaganda or if others have encouraged, supported or directed him."

Writing in two Sunday newspapers, both the home secretary Amber Rudd and Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson called on social media companies like Google and Facebook to be "more proactive" in stamping out extremist websites.

Three people were taken to hospital after a car ploughed into a large group of people outside a north London pub.

Witnesses said they saw bodies being thrown "in the air" when the car mounted the pavement outside the Old Queen's Head in Islington.

Two knives were found at the scene but police said they are not treating the crash as terrorist related.

Four teenagers have been arrested and remain in custody.

Cassandra Pessaran told the BBC there were "30-odd" people standing outside the pub in Essex Road just before 23:00 BST.

She said she heard "screeching tyres" then saw a vehicle "playing bumper cars with about three other cars... before going straight into a crowd of people".

Aris Papachronopoulos said he "saw three people in the air" after the car drove "into the whole group".

Two men and a woman are being treated in hospital. Their injuries are not considered life threatening.

The teenagers in custody are aged between 17 and 19 and were held on suspicion of a variety of offences including GBH with intent and possession of points and blades, the Met said.

One knife was found in the car while another was discovered nearby.

@izzythepush,
This morning, on Sky-news, Nigel Farage was forced to admit Westminster attack had nothing to do with immigration.

He didn't apologise but said, he was absolutely clear and specific that he was talking about terror attacks in Europe in general.
Quote:
"So you admit, then, that immigration had nothing to do with this terror attack."

"Not directly, no, but that's not the point," said Mr Farage.

You see, you get crazy or just plain bad criminals doing stuff. The "terror attack" seems to have been a crazy man.
