I own sweaters from places I will never see
I wear them to pretend i'm a person that i'll never be
Having travelled the world only in my head
They come in every color, black, white, and red
I'll wear these sweaters in the cold
I'll wear them till they're tattered and old
Only to represent what I will never hold
Funny how something as innocuous as a sweater can be used as a metaphor. Excellent!
I know, thats what I was thinkin'!
i juwst returned from work in Labrador and they have ARan-like sweaters used by the fishermen.
I was told that the patterns of the Aran sweater originally helped identify the body of an Irish fisherman who drowned and later washed on shore.
Hows that fer a useful bit of halloween trivia about world sweaters.
MY occupation is the manufacture of traditional Guernsey sweaters. They have been made for over 600 years. The Island of Guernsey is very famous for its Guersey sweater and the Guernsey cow.
