..because it helped me put in my weborder for an Apple iMac G5!
I must admit that I've been having a good time with my Compaq for long spell now, four years and a bit. But I'm tired of the BSOD, it's kinda weak (800mHz, 64mB RAM), it's noisy, and sometimes very slow. Last night my soundcard decided to take a break, just like that. OK, re-booting after a night's rest got the sound back, but it annoyed me.
So I decided last week to get us a new 'puter. Been looking at ads and stuff in the stores the whole summer, but wasn't sure if I wanted a PC again. Looked at a iMac G4 too, nice stuff man! Didn't look at the PowerMac, kinda pricey for me.
Looked at apple.com for ideas and found out I could finance it! Asked the missus if we could afford it, and she meant we could. Done deal! Ordered it pretty standard, nothing fancy, except for the Bluetooth module built in.
17" screen, 256 mB RAM, 80gigs of hard drive space, built-in speakers, and noooo connection with microsoft! Unless somebody gives me a ripped version of windows for Mac, but that would be illegal, and we wouldn't want that, would we  ?
I just wanted to tell the world, that's all.
BTW, end of november is deliverance.. eehhh delivery!
This is what it looks like!
Prolly oughtta have got at least 512 RAM - I'd have gone with a minimum of Gig anyway, and a dual-frormat DVD burner, but whatever, its gonna be an upgrade from a '90s anything, specially if that '90s anything was a Presario. Congrats, and happy new 'puter.
Ummm, yup, a Presario it is...
I went for minimum since I don't have to work on it, and I'm not into gaming anyways, I'm too slow for that! Maybe I need a new processor?
Just the Binford 6100 sticker, actually...
Congrats on purchasing a Mac.... you'll never go back.
Thanks jp!
That's what everybody says who already own one, I guess!
Same to you, super-G!!! read about your new job the other day, excellent!
Goodbye pc, welcome iMac!
It's here, at last, we've been playing together since friday now, and I'm getting really comfortable with it! Of course, some things are really different to my old pc, but I'm getting there!
It's like Christams came early!!
The best thing about OSX is all of the modifications you can do to it. Ask if you have any questions about anything.
Ok, jp, I'll do that!
I'll get some literature and work myself into the system, so to speak, and when I get clogged I'll give ya holler!
You're so right about Christmas! It is so different to a PC, and I don't mean just design-wise, but also in user-friendliness and logic.
I used to F5 to refresh a page on my PC, but on my mac, that's not an option. Is there an option for that at all? I know there's a lot of different short command with the applebutton, but I don't know'em-- yet.
