Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me.

I'm not very technological and need some advice

I want to purchase an iPod mini, but for it to work on my laptop I need to have a USB 2.0 port.

I currently have a USB 1.1 port and was wondering if I would be able to have a USB 2.0 port installed on my laptop and how much it might cost.

I know that for a desktop you can buy a 4-port USB 2.0 card for around £20 ($30) and they are easy to fit (unscrew case, slot card into spare slot, screw back together, install driver from CD), but I also know that laptops don't always work in the same way as desktops due to saving space inside etc. so it may be different. Try a google for "usb 2.0 card laptop" and see what comes up. Someone more techie than I will hopefully drop in and be able to clear it up for you. Good luck.

And welcome to A2K, btw!

You can easily & relatively cheaply aquire a USB 2.0 input PC Card for laptops as well.

However, you should be able to connect any USB 2.0 device to a USB 1.1 port (it's a fully backwards compatible technology)....you'll just get much slower transfer speeds.

I just connected an Ipod to a 1.x port and it worked, kinda, sorta, slowly....

But it worked.
