SearchWeb2 - Trying to remove but failing :(

Hello at A2K!

I've been trying to remove searchweb2 and all it's related components on a WinXP machine and it's been eluding me, and, according to Google, more peole seem to be talking about it here than other places so I thought I ought to sign up.

I've installed AdAware SE and Spy Sweeper and run those. I've also installed HijackThis and removed a few things that are obviously not legitimate. However, I can't seem to find the last few traces which keep searchweb2 from coming back. At least Spy Sweeper is preventing searchweb2 hijacking the browser's default search pages, etc.

If anybody can help me beat this thing, I'd much appreciate it. HijackThis log included here:

It turns out that the Sasser was only a remnant in the registry (fortunately), but the machine has been scanned with an updated Norton AV as well as AdAware and SpySweeper in Safe Mode. Here's the new HijackThis log. Look forward to hearing back!

Thanks Don -

No idea what the Base Mapi.exe is. Couldn't find any info on the web either, which makes me suspect that it is a problem file. I'll update you after the next attempt at removing the search bar/spyware.

Thanks again
Eddie

And now for the good news ...
We gave up running scans in the end and decided to opt for a full rebuild of the PC - just to be sure. We'd already spent 6 hours on the problem before this latest session and decided it would be quicker to do a backup and reinstall from scratch. Thanks for all the help Don. If anything comes up in the future you'll be the first to know
