Movie/ tv series with an intelligent mettalic boucing ball

I saw a TV series/ movie when i was a kid in 90s. It has a kid and a small mettalic intelligent bouncing ball which is alive. Does anyone know which movie this is?
More info: It bounces and follows the kid all day, eats bananas, a whole bowl of fruit.

Well, it kind of looks like the ball in Phantasm, but without the thingies coming out of it, and smaller too. Anyone.. plss...

There was a scifi movie, Dark Star (1974) with a red ball alien ( cheapo creature). When shot with a tranquilizer gun, it deflated.
