Installing Windows XP Service Pack 2

Before Installing Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows suggests that I "back up my system."

How does one back up the system? Is there a Windows utility for this?

I don't need 100 CD ROM's, do I? I mean, my hard drive is about 100 Gigs, so backing up all of that would suck.

Thanks,

There are hundreds of Windows utilities for this. Windows includes the free Microsoft Backup application. (Start -> [All] Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Backup)

Just because your HD is 100 gigs that doesn't mean all of it is used (if it was you wouldn't be able to run Windows). You are probably using a small percentage of that space. Depening on your needs, it is probably unimportant to backup all data on your HD....just backup any personal data that losing would make you cry.

A small minority have any problems installing XP SP2, & only a small minority of those unlucky folks lose any data.
