On The Bremerton Ferry
Exhilarating sights, and smells, and sound,
The thrilling Christmas-morning feel
of a new place found,
Sharp, salty air, athletic grace
of seabirds, diving, giving chase,
A distant glowering, snow-draped prince,
What more to make me love this place?
Your kind words, and friendly face.
(jjorge)
Addendum:
The friendly face was Piffka who gave me a whirlwind tour of Seattle when I was there for one day last year.
Yay to you, and to Piffka, your gracious hostess! :-D
Jjorge!!!
I am overwhelmed! What a wonderful remembrance of our afternoon together. It was great, wasn't it? We had the perfect weather and ferry ride. Wow. A Christmas Morning Feeling. YES!!!
And you know you're welcome back, anytime!
Thank you so much.
(((((Hugs))))))
Piffka
Glad you liked it.
I can enjoy a place on my own but it was a treat to be welcomed.
Thanks again for your kindness.
Hi Jes
Nice to see you on any thread!
jjorge, Piffka wrote about your whirlwind tour on another site. It made all of us want to see Seattle with her as the tour guide and we all wanted to meet you after hearing her describe you.

Diane
Thanks for the kind words.
Maybe we'll meet someday at one of the A2k gatherings that seem to be proliferating. In fact, I gave a lot of thought to joining you all (pronounced 'yawl' I believe) in the upcoming Florida gathering but can't really afford it right now.
Piffka is a delightful person and an ace as a 'tour guide'. You wouldn't be disappointed.
Gee, Piffka, I've taken the ferry to Winslow plenty of times, but never to Bremerton. jjorge's poem makes me realize I've been missing something!
D'A -- Heeheeee. Oh yeah, the Bremerton run is a LOT different!!! Call me and I'll show ya.
Jjorge -- I'm looking forward to a repeat visit. Give us enough time and maybe we can get Diane to visit at the same time! And then STAY long enough so we can really see some sights!
Diane -- You KNOW you're always welcome.
Piffka
I'd like to very much, though I'm not sure when.
I've got a tentative plan for a trip to Ireland in the Fall.
Hm-m-m...
....I wonder if we could generate interest for a group of A2k'ers to visit Ireland together?
We're supposed to be going to the UK in the fall... taking our son on tour before he starts school and revisiting Scotland. It would be fun to zip over to Ireland!
Piffka
I was in Scotland in 1962 for three weeks.
I was a 20yr old Marine stationed in Spain and my sister and her
first husband (He was a Scot )invited me to join them.
Scotland was lovely. (wow, forty years ago...hard to believe)
Although I'm Irish descent I've never been to Ireland and am way overdue.
I don't have an itinerary or plan as yet other than that I want to
spend some time on the west coast and viewing rural areas and I'd like to do it after the heaviest volume of tourists have gone home.
I should probably start a thread seeking ideas and input.
