Can you help me find the lyrics to a song I sang we sang in our music class about 50 (or more) years ago? I can remember some of the lyrics, but not all. It starts out,
"Three whole nights I've lain awake,
cock-a-doodle-do
for my little rooster's sake,
cock a doodle do
(I cant't remember this line)
And I thought my heart would break"
He had feathers blue and bright
cock a doodle do.....That's all I can remember.
Thanks for your effort!
...............................
3 whole nights I've lain awake,
(Cockle-doodle-doo)
for my little rooster's sake
(Cockle doodle doo)
Sunday dawn
(Cockle-doodle-doo)
he was gone
(Cockle-doodle-doo)
and I thought my heart would break.
He had feathers blue and bright
(Cockle-doodle-doo),
and he crowed with all his might,
(Cockle-doodle-doo)
when he sings,
(Cockle-doodle-doo)
flaps his wings,
(Cockle-doodle-doo)
he is such a pretty sight.
France and ......... (can't remember this line),
(Cockle-doodle-doo)
then to Germany I flew,
(Cockle-doodle-doo)
No bird there,
(Cockle-doodle-doo)
anywhere
(Cockle-doodle-do)
not in England or Peru
My Rooster
Three whole nights I've lain awake,
Cock-a-doodle-doo
For my little rooster's sake,
Cock-a-doodle-doo
Sunday dawn,
Cock-a-doodle-doo
He was gone,
Cock-a-doodle-doo
And I thought my heart would break.
He had feathers blue and bright,
Cock-a-doodle-doo
And he crowed with all his might,
Cock-a-doodle-doo
When he sings,
Cock-a-doodle-doo
Flaps his wings,
Cock-a-doodle-doo
He is such a pretty sight.
France and Spain I’ve hunted through,
Cock-a-doodle-doo
Then to Germany I flew,
Cock-a-doodle-doo
No bird there,
Cock-a-doodle-doo
Anywhere,
Cock-a-doodle-doo
Not in England or Peru
So kind friends both far and near,
Cock-a-doodle-doo
To me pleading now give ear,
Cock-a-doodle-doo
Find my pet,
Cock-a-doodle-doo
Don’t forget,
Cock-a-doodle-doo
Bring me back my rooster dear
This is to the best of my recollection. It has been many a year since I went to music class and sang this song. My sister and I would sing this as we cleaned up after evening dinners. Fond memories
