sozobe, they're wonderful, aren't they! i hope i can get the guy who did my greenery to do my dragonfly - i think he's got a great gift with colour shading - and i want a sense of the translucence, not just a black and white outline (as so many insect tattoos seem to be).

ehBeth, that does sound lovely. I also never thought about this symbolism. That's a good one for a new start in life.

so it took 5 months from the start of this thread, but it's done.
Phew.
Got grazzhopper to do my new 'ink' on saturday.

the middle of it is 2 vines cupped around each other, with a tiny flower in the centre. There is a bumble bee entering the vines from the lower right and a dragonfly heading off to the left about the vines. It's on my lower left back and slightly smaller than my hand overall. What i can see with mirrors looks good. The colours seem to be gorgeous (kind of hard to judge in the first couple of days).

littlek and i discovered on the weekend that my inker was influenced by the artist who did the original water colour of her tattoo. small world!

Sounds GREAT!! Very vivid description -- see it clearly in my mind's eye.

My possible cousin-in-law (hubby's cousin's serious girlfriend) who I met at the big family reunion had a bunch of very cool tats -- my favorite was a Wonderwoman on the back of her left calf, almost the whole length (18 inches? tall).

That sounds great, sozobe!

I've been getting compliments on the new ink, particularly the bumble bee. Gotta thank Bumble Bee Boogie for knocking me over the edge on that. There was a bumble bee in my original design, then I kept waffling back and forth on it. Seeing her tag line and her zest for life posting just told me the bumble bee had to be there.

@ehBeth,
I have a tattoo of an invisible dragon wrestling an invisible Godzilla while an invisible Mothra sits on an invisible picnic blanket while sharing an invisible pizza with an invisible Mel Gibson. It covers my entire back. It took 330 days for the tattoo artist to finish. Or so at least that's what she told me.
