Id like to hear all sides, from rabid conspiracy wonks to deep deniers of anytjing that may implicate our new president.

I have no doubt they made an effort. How much they effected the final result I cannot guess. I blame voter suppression and other shenanigans by election officials more than the Rooskies. I also blame the Democrats for alienating so much of their liberal base.

@farmerman,
Looks like theres good legs to this story. Im sure there will be the deniers of all fact becuse of the assertion that the CIA had "evidence " of WMD's in Iraq.
It must be a reminder that of the CIA analysts who believed that Saddam was "gearing up" there were probably an equal number who disbelieved it. Most notable was SCott Ritter who stated that no WMDs were anywhere around anymore and who was consequently poo poo'd by the Bush admin . It must be recalled that It was GW Bush who disbanded the CIA's "bin LAden Sisterhood" who , during the pre inaugural intelligence briefings ,warned the incoming Bush Administration that bin LAden would be doing something "Really Big" to the US.
NOOO Bush , probably via Cheney, then merely disbands the analysis team , and then begins the focus on Saddam . This left us open to the consequence of real CIA intelligence and 9/11 was it.
Here we have fairly credible IP source innformation that the Russians , and this included Putin, hqd hqnds in the "fake news" "haqcked e mails" and "lies and assertions" that were primarily friendly to Donald Trump.
Now it turns out that OBAMA knew of this information but didnt think it would be of any importance because Hillry was comfortably in the lead.
( The question is, DID Her leads began to decay as the result of these hacks and untruths??)

What follows is just my opinion.

The Russian cyber-spooks hacked the DNC. They also hacked the RNC. It's
disturbing that they were able to do so. It is not at all disturbing that they
were trying to do so. That's what they're supposed to do. Our spooks ae
trying to hack the Russians and a host of others. The US, Russia, the UK,
China, France and every country with the capability have hackers hard at
work. The public at large only finds out about it when it is in someone's
interest to let the cat out of the bag.

The result of these hacks is that DNC emails were leaked. These were
actual emails, written by Americans, not Russians. They show a seamy side
of the election process. That the Democratic emails and not the Republican
ones were leaked seems to me to indicate that the Democratic ones were
juicier.

The Russian effort was to embarrass the US and knock our electoral process
off its pedestal, not to influence the lection in Trump's favor. The Russians
are happier with Donald Trump as president than they would be with Hillary
Clinton, but that was not their goal.

One decisive factor in the election is the FBI's announcement they are opening up the email investigation again, right in the closing days of the election. I believe Clinton would have won for sure if that had not happened.

I am not at all certain.
It's just my opinion.

It had an effect, no doubt, but I think she still would have lost. There's a lot
of anger and frustration out there.

The charge is that they were deliberately helping the Trump campaign because the hackers (and Putin) wanted Trump to win.

As I understand it, they leaked information that was damaging the Clinton campaign. They leaked nothing that was damaging to Trump. Am I missing something?

I don't think your dodge works George.

Sure doesn't.
Had to have it towed away a couple of weeks ago.

@George,
I bought a Dodge once that turned out to burn oil as fast as you could pour some in. It made enormous clouds of black smoke. But it ran like a top, aside from that. I was angry enough at the dealer to drive it without making payments for three months and then parked it on his lot one night.

If juiciness was a factor why not release both parties' emails for the most juice? I doubt the Republican parties' emails were devoid of seaminess.

@edgarblythe,
This was a Caravan that did long and faithful service. She was replaced as
"Mom's taxi" by a Toyota Sienna, but I kept her for grunt work. Finally, the
rust got so far ahead of me that it was time to sing "Goodbye Ol' Paint".

Could be. Or maybe they were just more careful about what they wrote.
I still don't think the Russians were trying to push it Trump's way. Yet.
There's probably another shoe or two yet to drop.

Why don't you think that the Russians were trying to push it Trump's way?

That Putin strongly favored Trump over Hillary Clinton is no secret. And Trump is already putting pro-Putin people in his cabinet.
