@TomTomBinks,
While a candidate can't go to all 50 states, Trump was just south of the Wyoming state line in a rally and did address the miners concerns re; coal, natural gas and shale. Also Bernie went to Wyoming and took it from HILLARY.

No city, town or county elections include an electoral college, are they "ruled by the mob'?

Yes, and in some cases literally.

NYS is always a Democratically controlled state. You know why? NYC, Buffalo, Albany. The state senate is Republican because most of the state is. The Governor runs in those three cities with stops in Rochester, Syracuse and Binghamton. It's a shame really.

But, yes, NYS is run by mob rule instead of the vast land area being Republican.

@giujohn,
And without the EC they wouldn't bother?

@McGentrix,
The cities don't vote. The people in them do. It's based on population. If the majority of the people live in the cities, it's their interests that have to be addressed first. An EC at the state level would give (let's say by county) equal voting power to Cattaraugus County (pop. approx. 80,000) and Kings County (pop. approx. 2,600,000). How would that be fair? How would that be a better system?

Land doesn't vote or have needs. Do you propose giving one vote to each acre of land?

This is all revisionist bullshit. Hillary lost it, Trump didnt win it.

All that may be true. However, we're stuck with the result. Analogous to tossing the baby (Presidency) away and keeping the afterbirth.

It would be fair that the farmer that produces the product could have equal representation as those that consume the product in far off cities who set the price. Why should one person's interest be more important than someone else that doesn't have access to the same things? Why should the people of NYC be able to set the laws for the people that live in the Adirondacks?

It's mob rule. I think it's ok though. I can always move if I don't like it therefore I live under the constraints provided to me.

Just like the f'ing whiners complaining about the EC now. Everyone knew the rules before the game started. If you didn't like the rules, you shouldn't have played the game.

Because there's more of them.
I'm not whining about the EC. I never said it should be disbanded.

He does. He has one vote.

The electoral college was put in place for a very good reason, and without it, even more people would not be bothered to vote.

And what reason is that?

To ensure that there's an equal representation in government, from all walks of life.

@Olivier5,
The electoral college system has been in place since before either of us was whelped, Olivier5.

Neither of us actually resides within those united states of America.

What makes you think you're now an adjudicator on how this system, put in place by people who were well aware of how it could be dicked around with down the track, works in reality?

I'm happy to comment on this system, but it's their system. It worked great for Obama (twice). Not so great for Romney or Hillary Rodham Clinton.

@Builder,
The system was set up prior to the telegraph, when people had to hand-carry the results from each voting area. Hence the delegates, and that's all there is to it. It's not sacred or fail-proof or anything like that. It's just obsolete, and has been so since over a century.

Just stop pretending it's fair or equal when evidently it's not. Duh...

You've presented an opinion. Nothing more.

Pretending that I'm duh because I don't share your opine is ridiculous.

@Builder,
I've presented a fact: the system over-represents certain areas and demographics and under-represents others. Therefore it is unequal, not equal. These are FACTS, not opinions. Duh.

By now you should realize that you are dead wrong.

I know that you will never admit your mistake, because that's how you roll.
