2016's Entity of the Year: The Grim Reaper

A friend who I collaborated on a fanfic suddenly passed yesterday (he had been a diabetic and had had numerous strokes). He about my age. He created a cover for our work, signed it and sent it to me. It's framed and on the wall of our (mine and RP's) shared office/computer room.

This is very likely bad form, but I didn't know where to share this information. Carrie Fisher suffered a massive heart attack on a plane in flight today. She reportedly required CPR by passengers and the EMS personnel on the ground at landing.

She currently doesn't qualify for the certifiably dead criteria of this thread, but last reports I read are not optimistic.

Well, so far, she's still kickin'.

This is intolerable. I've irritated Facebook friends three times in this last year, playing this same song--commiserating sadly with George over the loss of a teacher.

I'm sad. He was 2 years younger than me.

Not famous but should have been. Door gunner Colburn and pilot Hugh Thompson were the American soldiers at My Lai who risked their lives and honor to stop the massacre by landing their helicopter between the villagers and the Americans firing at them.

They got out with their lives but were dishonored and shunned by their fellow soldiers. Their crew mate Glenn Andreotta died in battle a couple of weeks after the My Lai incident. Their heroism was not recognized until 30 years later when they were all awarded The Soldier's Medal.

Cause of death •looks like to me • the toll previous substance abuse and health issues finally took from his heart.

This is just all over me.
