Savers of nothing.
Waiting to be saved.
Cutters of the sea,
Looking at your majesty,
and peasantry.
You are kings
And footstools
For the world.
As are we all.

Kelly, I have been thinking about the resources that the world lacks. Among the most important is water. When we have hurricanes or any natural disaster, there is a replenishing of certain elements that take the sting out of doom. Thus was the inspiration for this poem.

Thank you, Kelly. There is a dearth of the poet here, and it saddens me.

Letty, I am like-minded! In fact, I'll place two environmental poems from my last book in this forum right after this! It is from the fires within that poetry is forged. It is our essence.

I completely agree with your thinking here.
It's not so often poems with this sort of thoughtfulness and emotion come up about enviromental issues as opposed to emotion -I think there should be more of them.
I, myself, have written an environmental poem (save the earth! - it's posted in this forum) but it relies on pace and rhyme, not the wonderful depth you've created here - a brilliant piece!

Blacklacebutterfly, Please lead us to that well spring. Were I not feeling a little under the weather (whatever that means), I would drink with you from a gourd.

And me, being the humble poet imp, would fill that gourd with the finest scotch!

p.s. let me know how it turns out, you two :-)

Thanks Kelly!
But it's not like yours are terrible!
Lets face it - your poetry is AMAZING!!!!!!
I think it's great (and well deserved) that you've been published - I love to do that myself, I just don't know how to go about it

No... Your poetry is amazing, my friend. It is my responsibility in this world of ours to bring forth works like yours, Letty's, Cav's, and the other awesome atrists in this humble forum. You are already published... In the annals of your soul. Your words are published in my heart every time I read them. I lurked in this place for quite awhile before I decided to dive in. Now that I have, I am glad. Good people are here and you are high amongst them. Hubris has no place in our art. Only love and the perpetuation of good. Stay tuned. I think good things are afoot in this forum...

You couldn't have come up with more of my favourite animals and places Letty. I feel a political animal metaphor coming on...

A wanton bee found it's way
through a window.
My ally is allergic to it's sting.

The spray, the spray,
and it stops flying,
settles on the blinds and thinks,
what is my next move
before I die?

More spray,
more bee contemplation.

It turns upon it's back
and wiggles it's legs
in torment.

The flowers are in full bloom,
the weather is beautiful.

Many people
gaze upon the sunset,
ignoring the storm.

The tempest enraptures,
overcomes.
The bee
and the observers
are drowned,
some more wet
than others,

much to the dismay
of a spider's hope.

I love the idea cavfancier!
The structure is very strong, and I love the empathy with the bee.
Like all your other works - this is great!

Beautiful piece!!! I thank all of you for sparking my passion for poetry again. The ones I posted before are old ones, but you all have inspired me to start expressing myself again. I know my soul needs it, with all the craziness and stress in the world I have to listen to everyday. Please keep it up.
