"Singin' in the Rain" nudged out "The Searchers" on the ten greatest films ever made list of the major world film critics by Sight and Sound magazine. It is one film in my experience that film buffs can easily watch over and over. It could be the deft comedy but then it could be the great song-and-dance numbers highlighted, of course, by Donald O'Conner (who used to be the neighbor of one of my aunts when I was young) in "Make 'Em Laugh." His athletic prowess is really almost unmatchable except perhaps by Gene Kelly himself and, naturally, Fred Astaire. Never seen any of them walk up a wall though.

RP = Cool

SO you're the reason that Shawshank Redemption is number 1 on the IMDb Top 250 list! You're part of the conspiracy! Shocked

@tsarstepan,
1. Spirited Away (2001) ~ I own.
2. Ghost In The Shell (1995) ~ I own;
3. Chinatown (1974) ~ Nope ~ Haven't looked for one either. Wonder what the best DVD edition is;
4. In The Mood For Love (2000) ~ Criterion Collection of course!;
5. The Silence of the Lambs (1991) ~ Criterion Collection of course!;
6. Sideways (2004) ~ Nope ~ I SHOULD!;
7. Amélie (2001) ~ I own;
8. Casablanca (1942) ~ I own. A special anniversary edition I got really cheap for $10;
9. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II (2011) ~ Nope ~ TOO early for owning;
10. The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly (1966) ~ Nope ~ Haven't looked for one either. Wonder what the best DVD edition is;;

I wonder if it's moving to be an outdated concept. The idea of owning a copy (DVD/BluRay/digital) of a movie that is.
