I don't belive in it,
Word i never use,
Evil in its way,
Anger so unkind,
Brings sadness to my heart,
To say it to someone, is so cold,
Sends shivers down my spine,
To here it, don't like the sound,
Why do people say it,
I don't understand,
That word don't say it,
You will be a better person,
Without it.
Good words joe! Haven't seen you around in a long time!
So, what's alternative word for expressing, among a host of other things, one's willingness to sacrifice oneself for another?
I don't think there HAS to be a word for it, why can't people just feel it and show it and leave it at that!
We're human beings, we need words for everything we can think of.
Well I must not be human, I don't need words to make me feel loved or secure!
I'm human, I'd like a word for expressing, among a host of other things, one's willingness to sacrifice oneself for another.
The thing about the human race is that they always have to know everything. If we were supposed to know everything, we would. I'm comfortable with not knowing such simple things, but that's my opinion. Some people need more then others.
We're obsessive that way.
The opposite of love is probably boredom.
Excellent piece, Joe! Keep it coming!

Poetically, you already expressed it, 'human'. You could also go with 'humanist' or 'humanitarian'. Or...you could wrap yourself in dogma and call it 'Jesus'. On a more base level, say, if you have given up too much to someone who abuses your 'sacrifice', you could always go with 'sucker'. Heh heh.

The point is, there are many words to express that willingness to sacrifice oneself for another, or for a cause. What's important to a poem is how the words and sentiments are strung together.

Well stated, but to me, the opposite of love is indifference, across the board from the personal to the general.
Poetically, I'd like a word to distinguish "human," meaning "indifference," from "human," meaning "one's willingness to sacrifice oneself for another." "Sucker" is a good synonym for it.
