Alright... back to Germany...
Are you going to get a bunch of free time to go looking around?
im going to be there for three weeks and they said we will more then likely have the weekends off... im going to try and take my snowboard with me... try some of those foregin slopes for a change
Nice... Germany is on top of my "places to go" list. My ancestry is 100% German... but I know next to nothing about it. My goal is to learn german and then spend a few weeks there and see as much as I possibly can.
My mother and her brother spent a few weeks there when they were young and found the house some of our ancestors came from. They walked up and knocked on the door and told the people living there who they were and why they were there and they ended up staying there for a couple of nights.
The only time I was there was a 2 hour layover in Frankfurt on the way to Greece.
i have a really good friend who spent 3 weeks over there durning the summer... she was there on a missions trip for her church. she stayed in a newer home and she said it was funny cus the home she was in was just built but the one beside them was built like 300 years ago and was still in great condition and had people living it. germany has great history... i know nothing of my ancestry. Its sad, but when i try to find out from my family everyone is all clamed up about it. Eh i dont know. I know very little little germany... about all i can say is no ma'am.... lol i think i will do just fine though... from what i hear germany chicks dig anything and anyone american.
might find me a wife over there ya never know!
Gee JP, never would have guessed that someone from Milwaukee might be of German ancestry.
I love history. I hated it in school but the older I get the more I want to learn about it. When I was in Greece we were at some ruins where there wasn't much left except two walls surrounding the city. We were walking between them and the professor was describing how if an invading army broke through the first wall they would end up between the walls, where we were walking, and the archers from above could just stand up on the second wall and fire down at them... like fish in a barrel.
I just remember thinking that I was standing on the same spot where battles raged thousands of years ago... it was a really great experience.
ye i hear ya... i have visited a lot of the civil war ruins and battle fields and when you think back on that kind of stuff you just get this feeling of 'wow" you know... history is great... but im more of a science kinda guy

... surprisingly enough... I'm not an original Milwaukian... but funny non-the-less.
lol where are you from JP?
Born and raised in Dundee, Illinois. It is a far north-west suburb of Chicago (about 45 minutes depending on traffic). Besides that I lived one day in California (San Jose), a year in Carbondale Illinois (about as far south Illinois you can get), one year in Bloomington, Illinois (central Illinois) then on to Milwaukee where I have been for about 5 years now.
quite the travler eh? i have lived in quite a few places myself... if you dont mind me being a bit personal.. you are a graphic designer, corect? what firm do you work for?
I work in an in-house design firm for a large international corporation. The work sucks and usually isn't that creative but it pays the bills for now. I also freelance whenever I get the chance which usually offers a little more control and creativity.
My ultimate goal is to start my own business... I had a name and identity system all worked out and then I decided I didn't like it... so I am back to square one again.
YOu and the girl I am dating have so much in common (but you're married and should steal peoples girlfriends so i'll trust you'll leave her to me). she is working for a firm aswell doing graphic design, she likes it but where her bread is really buttered is in her own buisness. she also does photography. she has her site set up and is in the process of adding examples of her work to it. i tried the graphic design thing... just couldnt get into it... though i wish i had the talent in photoshop and dreamweaver... (and i couldnt deal with having to work with a mac)
