Things to keep in mind:

1.) We are limited to a 90 pixel wide and 100 pixel tall avatar. We will lose detail so it is best to use images that are less detailed.

2.) We are limited to a maximum 6k file size. When making animated gif files the easiest way to reduce file size is by reducing the amount of colors used in the file or reducing "frames" in the animation. Therefore a easy rule of thumb is less frames = more colors or less colors = more frames.

3.) more complex movements require more frames and add more to the file size. My avatar uses one frame for each letter which added a lot to the file size so had to reduce the amounts of colors used to make up for the increased frames. It works pretty well because the image is large enough to retain its form even though I lost detail due to the decreased colors.
