Yet another scorcher Evil or Very Mad of a day here in Melbourne, Oz <sigh> & my critters & I are helping each other through this nasty day. First, I collect any of the 3 moggies asleep outside, totally unaware that the temperature is becoming hideous. Place cats in various cool & comfy sleeping positions inside the house. Tuxedo cat doesn't even wake from his deep, deep sleep as I shift him. Mozz, my ancient female cat, follows me around like a shadow!: "Meow, meow, meow. Do something to make it cooler!" And poor, sick grey cat! ( I have been so worried about him being so sick, especially on the 112F (44C) day!! Shocked) He has been sleeping for hours ... since I shifted him to the couch in the lounge room in the morning.
An unexpected snooze on the bed in the afternoon (heat stress, I wonder?) Mozz is right there with me ... purring furiously on my chest. She's SO happy! When I get up grey cat is still totally out of it on the couch. Tuxedo cat is now on my lap as I type this, enjoying the air conditioning. Heavy cat!
Cool change predicted for tomorrow. Phew! Survived another scorcher!

Today is supposed to be a stinker here - and it's certainly hot at 5.30am.

I'm not sure what Poss does if I'm not at home in a heatwave. When I am at home, if a/c is on - he's somewhere in the house where he can't feel the fan - he doesn't like the feel of the air moving, but likes the cool.

I didn't mention something that Possum prompts me to do - sort out the linen press! If I'm out, gallivanting or even working, past the approved time, he opens the hallway linen press door (which, unfortunately is a slider!), and pulls out the linen, usually only from the lower shelves, but, if he has time, from higher ones. This he leaves in a stack in the hallway, opposite the front door. Sad

It gives visitors such a good impression! They know immediately this is an odd house, rather than having to think about it later! Confused

Possum KNOWS how to tell you something ... Clever cat! Laughing

Poor Rats (I didn't choose the name!) has had a "history" of chest/nose ailments. He was some one's discard ... thrown over our fence during the Gulf War (what a memory!) Poor thing, he's had ongoing problems. I have to watch him like a hawk & he reciprocates with wonderful loyalty, affection & also tolerance of the endless vet visits ...
So it's ANOTHER repeat of the recurring problems, PLUS a serious case of gingivitis. Crying or Very sad
How is your sick critter, littlek?

Poor Rats, indeed! My sister took in an unwanted cat with sinus issues, she's hardly ever sick with it anymore. Very affectionate (almost too). So, Rats needs some tlc, a teeth cleaning and he'll all set?

Screech is still up and down. He's up to way too much insulin and they want to do more tests. Today - he's happy. Way more happy than I've seen him in weeks, or months maybe. We'll see how tomorrow goes. Boots the dog needs to get into the vet and I find that I have to pick who gets care when - not a pleasant situation to be in.

Good luck with it!
I KNOW what it's like to deal with more than one sick critter at the same time. It can be very distressing. AND very expensive!!

My linen press is quite tidy - unlike the rest of the establishment, because of the regular need to repair all Possum's work! Confused Laughing

I once had a delightful little cat (called "Mouse") who used to get into my jewelry box when I was at work. I'd arrive home to find a trail of earrings & various other gee gaws right along the length of the passage! Laughing
She also had a similar thing about socks .... would relocate them to other spots & hide them! Little devil! Very Happy But such a sweet & cheeky critter! <sigh>

Nisse and Mysan once again managed to open the pantry door. They climb up on the top shelf and steal the cat snacks that are there. They eat them on our dark red carpet which is a good reason for me to vacuum.

And socks! Nisse also loves socks. He carries them around with his held high - very proud of himself because he caught a wild pair of socks. :-)

Yes, I'm sure they do! They are brother and sister. And I remember the things I used to do together with my brother.

And now Nisse looks at me like 'ME??? I'm an angel!!!' He has been hiding all weekend because a friend was staying at our place.

My kitten (Paddy), first cat I've ever had, is everywhere! When I brush my teeth, he's in the sink, washing dishes, he's crouched on the counter, fascinated by the running water, when I'm cooking, he's right there, snooping under the oven for something he hid eons ago. If I'm not ready for bed, he goes in without me. I can't pass his food dish, he hops on my legs letting me know he wants to be petted as he eats. When he's out on the porch, if I make one move, he's watching, waiting, wondering .... Ahhhhh, what did I ever do without him? This is all new to me, and I'm enjoying it.

I forgot, when I'm at the computer, he HAS to stand in front of the monitor, duh!

Loved reading all your stories .... so did Paddy!

Awwww, Paddy sounds an absolute delight! Very Happy It's been YEARS since I've had the company of a kitten (all my critter acquisitions, for years, have been of the older "discarded" variety) and your post reminded me of how funny & engaging they are. Very Happy Enjoy!

Yep, they go where you go, these critters! ... My darling grey cat waits till I've removed the last item from the laundry basket & put it on the line ... then ping! ... without fail, he jumps in & demands a game! Love that critter! Very Happy I'm sure he only does it because he thinks I expect him to .... he's been doing that since I first met him (as a "thrown over the fence" cat.) & seems to never have given up the habit.

Mine have to be searched for when a worker leaves the house, if they have a large bag of any kind - they are likely to have crawled in and hidden.

Did anyone ever drive off with a cat in their bag?

Not quite - they tend to wriggle and give the game away!
