Snow capped peak
Splashed with the orange of the setting sun
Outlined clearly against the deepening sky
You are beautiful.
Glimpsed through evergreens
Your lower slopes bathed in a rosy glow.
As the shadow creeps up to swallow you
The heavens fade from royal blue to deep indigo through impossible hues.
Wisps of scarlet tinted cloud brush the sparkling snow
Dark is falling, soon you are lost
Until in the golden morning sun you awake.
This is one of the very first poems I wrote (there's so far only 4 in total!) when I was in Ecuador and it was inspired by the awesome sunset on the volcano Cotopaxi.
travelbug, welcome to A2K.
Your poem was so beautiful that I felt I was there. It took me right to Ecquador and the rim of the volcano. I swear to you, I can close my eyes and see those colors.
Wonderful imagery. I've never been to Ecquador, but I enjoyed it vicariously through your words.
If I had a ticket to Ecuador, it would be obsolete with this poem - well done!
