Hi,

I have been hijacked by heretofind.com and after all my attempts cannot remove it.

Can someone please help me?

Heretofind.com still persists - please help
Don77 I tried what you said but unfortunately I came across a problem with the advice to run RegEdit. I could not find any of the addresses as stated below on my machine?

Click Start, Click Run, Type RegEdit in the box, Navigate to the following keys, Check them twice to be sure you have the right one, Then right Click and Delete

This can be a real pest Warren, Lets go this route,
FirstMake sure Ad-aware, Spybot are both updated, Check to be sure Nortons is updated as well.

Please download this tool to fix the start.chm hijack.

http://tools.zerosrealm.com/startchmfix.exe

Download it to preferably the Desktop . Run it and it will extract the folder to the desktop.

Open the folder after extracted.

Please make sure all Internet Explorers are closed.

Double click the fix.bat

Only run it once or you will lose the backups although they shouldn't be needed.

Notepad will open at the end with a message and the bad file listing at the end. Please post that bad file listing line here. The Tool is designed so that if it is unable to remove the file, it will tell the user to reboot and will remove it on Reboot.

If no files show in the bad file listing then do a Reboot and do a search for either of these highlighted files and DELETE them:

C:\Windows\System32\ C_10230.DLL or
C:\Windows\System\crt32_v2.dll

Please go Here and unzip the newest version of HJT into a new dedicated folder,
Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it hjt.
Unzip HijackThis into this folder ( Remove the plder version of HJT)

Please restart HJT put a check next to the following if they still exist, close all open windows and click "Fix Checked"

Delete the entire contents of the below Temp folders, but not the TEMP folder itself.

Remove all the files and sub-folders from the below TEMP Folders:

C:\Documents and Settings\ \Local Settings\Temp
C:\temp
C:\windows\temp

The TIF ( Temporary Internet Files) can also be emptied via:
Internet Explorer--Tools--Internet Options--General tab--"Delete Files",
Also tick the "delete all offline content" box .

Looks good now Warren,
Please create a new folder as stated above and drag HJT into please, You don't want it sitting in a temp folder, as you should clean those out often,

And your very welcome, post back if you have any further problems,

Almost forgot, if you haven't already be sure and enable System Restore
