I have the feeling that Microsoft copied its XP interface off of Mac OS X. I don't know if this is true, but Mac OS X was released before XP was, and XP had the appealing gel buttons that previous versions of windows didn't have. Of course, Mac OS X also had new appealing buttons that previous OSes didn't have, but the point is that Mac OS X came out before XP did*. Does anyone know about this?
*According to Internet sources
I dunno ... the "gel buttons" were a feature of Whistler, the beta of XP, just about from the outset. Even before that, they were a feature of the MSN Explorer browser. Additionally, they've long been common on graphics-intensive websites and in games. I doubt there is any connection beyond maybe the GUI designers for both OSs were similarly influenced by contemporary graphic arts trends.
