Do you have an AMD K6 processor?
If yes, this fatal error is caued by processor overheating.

I would delete all partitions on the hard drive & start over, this time copying the Win98 setup files to the harddrive before running setup (to rule out a faulty installation CD). If you get the same problem after that, your RAM (or even your mobo) might be faulty, or like Cyanure said overheating could be a problem. Good luck. You might also wanna try resetting your BIOS to factory defaults.

The core voltage of your CPU, which I'll bet you have a AMD K6-2 550 or a K6-2 overclocked to 550, is probably the 2.2v version... Well just bump the voltage up from 2.2 to 2.4v. Don't worry you won't damage it! The best stability is attained with 2.4v. Just make sure the fan on your CPU heatsink still spins so it doesn't get too hot... Bingo you're back in business! Your welcome! Mr. Green
