(By the way this is the Queen of England and it was a homework asignment that is allowed a maximum of 1000 words only, any constructive critisims welcomed).

Everywhere there were deafening screams, piercing throughout the palace. Red-hot shrapnel lie on the floor splattered with blood and innards, it was impossible to see through the thick, black smoke. Luminous orange and red were the only visible colours from the sweltering flames of many fires that now dominated the palace. The Queen grimaced with pain from her wounded arm as she rose slowly to her feet. One of her maids approached and applied linen as a bandage to her injured arm. The linen was blood soaked within seconds. The two women started to move but the blanket of smoke made it impossible for them to find their bearings.

They turned into a long corridor where the smoke had not yet reached. Some distance away they could see the bright blue blazer of a servant. He got nearer and nearer when an explosion sent a thousand iron nails shooting into the atmosphere, they looked quite pretty for a moment but then the reality sunk in. The petrified man held his hands out to shield his face but nothing would save him now.

The metal objects penetrated his torso. One shot him in the neck and passed clean through his tender throat. He tried to scream but all he managed was a whimper as the last nail cut his eye he fell to the floor.

The Queen stood there astonished. A tear rolled down her weary cheek. She felt like the palace was a war ground and she was stranded in no-mans land. She did not want to continue, what she had just witnessed was dreadful and the throbbing in her left arm was not subsiding. But the loyal maid urged her on.

They moved at a snail's pace down the elongated walkway. Fearful of every step because they thought it might set off some sort of deadly device. Behind them they could hear men shouting in an Arabic tongue and people shrieking. Instinctively, the maid turned to run in the direction of the cries but the Queen gestured for her to stop, within seconds the sounds of gun shots filled the air.

As the Queen and her maid approached a crossroad in the passage they were unsure of which way to turn. The choice was a matter of life and death. They turned left.

For ten minutes the couple followed the ruined passageway. The fleeing duo knew they must take meticulous care over their route ahead. Finally, they reached the stairs and were about to descend when they heard voices at the bottom. The two of them hid in a tight and uncomfortable corner, praying they would not be discovered.

After some time of listening to the devious plots of these numerous intruders, the Queen decided that they must try a surprise attack. Immediately, she left to retrieve the hunting equipment. They armed themselves.

The Queen believed it was her destiny to save the palace. It was as if the two ladies were preparing for an important game, only this battle would decide the future of the Commonwealth, maybe even the world.

The women moved slyly down the magnificent, marble stairs. To their surprise they did not see anyone at the bottom, all was silent. So they continued to creep down the hallway, they turned a corner and saw a muscular man staring at them who was at least six foot tall. He was wearing a black balaclava revealing only his malicious eyes. His clothes were black and stained with blood. He was about to yell but the faithful maid of the Queen blasted him in the head with the shotgun. The Queen stared at the maid in disbelief for a few seconds but knew there was no time to ponder as the other men could be heard, already on their way. The man was writhing on the floor like a squirming fish in a net.

The men turned the corner to find comrade's dead body lie. They looked up to see the Queen and the maid. The dark intruders now reached for their pistols that hid in their back pockets and bellowed out a war cry. No one could have predicted what was to happen next.

The Queen fired a shot at the smaller man which tore through his burly chest. He sunk to the ground and black death covered his eyes. The second taller man was undecided, should he run or stay and fight these two women who were looking increasingly lethal with their shotguns raised. It was probably these moments of indecision that caused his demise, for the Queen and her dependable servant did not wait to find out his choice. He was eliminated quickly and easily by the skillful Queen.

In the background the whirring of sirens could be heard. The ladies moved swiftly, they unsure of where they should go but knowing it was imperative they get out of the destroyed palace.

They turned a corner sharply and were confronted with three vicious men. They would have been extremely frightened had they known only two bullets were left in their weapons. Fearlessly the women engaged in combat and the first two men paid for underestimating their opponents. The first man was struck instantly on the abdomen and greeted his fate. The second of the trespassers was blasted on the right thigh, luckily he stayed alive but was useless as he cowardly slithered his pathetic body and concealed himself in the corner.

Upon facing the final of the three men the women were filled with confidence. They aimed their shotguns but no fire came. The villain did not need a second chance and shot the Queen in the heart. She fell to the floor instantaneously, her blood streamed onto the carpet like a flowing river. The maid was filled with rage and attempted to hit the man with the shotgun, he was not prepared and took the blow in full swing. Immediately his face was bruised although he was undeterred. He grabbed both the maid's hands, brandished a gleaming, silver blade and stabbed her. He smirked as he walked assertively away. The cheeks of the maid's face were filled with tears as she held the Queen's head I her hands.

With her last breath she whispered ?'God save our Queen'.
