Hi everyone! I am learning English ( with Raymond Murphy book) and i have got a question :

Why do we use present perfect in this sentence : "This is a very old book. I have had it since I was a child."
Why not present perfect continuous? We are talking about activity - having a book - and it is not finished yet - we still have this book.

Thank you very much for answering!
