Reply Sun 29 Aug, 2004 04:23 pm
This isn't a new topic but I need help again desperately!!! I have too many logs to paste here and even copy if it lets me. Computer was fine one day and now ads are hitting every second, on and off the internet. Stuff is downloading onto computer without my permission and so forth. I want to figure out what is letting this happen again. I have adaware and hijackthis and spybot and I have run them all over and over. I have deleted and I have searched, to no end. Here is one thing that keeps coming up-----BroadcastPC HKEY_Classes_Root: CLSID {20EC3D2D-33C1-4C9D-BC37-C2D500688DA2} This BroadcastPC is on here and I can't seem to find it to totally get rid of it. Please any sugestions??? Thanks.

First disable System Restore:
Right-click My Computer/Properties/System Restore
Check Turn Off System Restore On All Drives then click Apply and OK

1- Click Start /Control Panel.
In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
Remove BPC

2- click Start/Run and type regedit
Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run
In the right panel delete the value called "RVP"="C:\Program Files\RVP\bpc.exe" if it exists
Close registry

3- Go to C:\Program Files
Delete RVP if present.

4- Right-click My Computer/Properties/System Restore
uncheck Turn Off System Restore On All Drives
Restart your PC

5- Update your Antivirus and run a scan or do a Live scan from the internet.

This should fix your problem

OK Cyanure will give this a try but I didn't see it in the ADD/REMOVE Program list before. Also I am on WIN2000PRO so I don't have a system restore, that I know of. Also another question for you---what is Wild Tangent Web Driver ??? That is in the ADD/Remove I have games on here and that's the only thing I can think of that that is for. Thanks again for all your help.

Ok you don't need to disable system restore since it's not an option in W2K.
And since you can't find it in ADD/Remove just skip it and move to step 2,3,4, and 5.

Did you download any games or other software from the Wild Tangent Web site???

Well I did everything you said and couldn't find any of it. There is no RVP on here. And I still can't find the BroadcastPC on here but it keeps coming up with it on Adaware. And as for the Wild Tangent I don't know , my daughter may have. Can I delete it ? Is it a problem for these popups?

I just added Mozilla (Stopzilla) and Popup Zero Pro. But before I did that, I ran a disk cleanup and defrag and so far no more pop ups. So not sure if I got the problem or not.

If your running Mozilla I bet your not having pop ups anymore, If IE is closed ,But lets clean up your log just the same.

Please Download LSPFix from http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.zip and Run the Program.

Disconnect from the Internet and close all Internet Explorer Windows.

Check the "I know what I'm doing" Button and remove all traces of lspak.dll . and calsp.dll

Then Reboot.

Next
Dowload the following program

CWShredder
It should be the current version, but check for updates

Run Program cwshredder and have it fix anything it finds.

Make sure you click the "Fix" button

Next:
Download Ad-aware CHECK FOR UPDATES.
Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Scanning Engine:

check: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."
- Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Cleaning Engine:

Check: "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."
Press "Scan Now"
- Check option "Use Custom scanning options"
- Check option "Activate In-Depth Scan"
- Press "Select drives\folders to scan"
- Select the active partition which is usually C:
Now press "Next" to let Ad-aware scan your drives...
It will find a number of "bad" files and registry keys.
Right-click in that pane and choose "select all"

Now press "Next" again.
It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK."

Restart your computer,

Next go Here Download the latest version of HJT and post back a fresh log
There will be a few more things to clean up,

OK Don I did everything you had listed. The LSPFix, then the CWShredder and then the Adaware and now I just posted the latest scan from HJT. Now what is next? Again thanks so much for taking the time to help me. Sorry it takes so long for me to get back on here but my work schedule is crazy at the moment. OK will wait for your reply.

Well whatever happened, my computer is now even worse!!! Now I don't even have the stuff I wanted on my toolbar and 2 of my extra address bars are missing. This is getting so bad, ads are popping up as i type this. In the lower right hand of my screen there is usually an icon for my printer, sound, messenger, and so on and now they have disappeared (except sound). This is just getting so frustrating.

I lost the icons in the lower right hand toolbar. Got most back but the printer and my Norton's. Well Norton's won't let me set it at the Auto-Protect (it's turned OFF and I can't get it back on and Email scanning is showing an Error now. I did download something called Secretmaker. Ever hear of it?? Help me if you can with the Norton's , it's the Norton antivirus 2003 version. More worried about viruses than pop ups at the moment.

It's easy to solve
You lost your icons in lower right toolbar because the programs didn't load at start up.

Click Start/Run and type msconfig
Click Startup tab and check the programs you want to load a startup. Check Norton to load at startup to let Auto Protect functions again.
Any program you check will have an icon in the lower right toolbar.

Run the lspfix again, same way you did before and have it remove all traces of calsp.dll

Please restart HJT put a check next to the following, close all open windows and click fix.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {87766247-311C-43B4-8499-3D5FEC94A183} - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WinTools\WToolsB.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinTools] C:\Program Files\Common Files\WinTools\WToolsA.exe

Reboot to safe mode ( by tapping the F8 key on start up ) make sure you can view All Hidden Files/Folders search for and delete the following in BOLD

C:\Program Files\Common Files\WinTools\WToolsS.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\WinTools\WToolsA.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\WinTools\WSup.exe

Restart your computer,
Restart HJT and post back a fresh log.

Let us know if your icons are back going the route Cyanure suggested
