but instead of html I still get php. What did I miss?
Perhaps you are still logged in? The rewrite only happens for guests.

Same for me. Why does it happen just for guests...I know it serves the purpose but does it cause any issues if we do it sitewide wven if people are logged in ? Just for my information ?
It can cause problems for users who do not allow cookies as it would break the URL SIDs.
I might make a fine tuned rewrite when 2.2 comes out, but as you say, it serves the purpose... (and well, if I may say so).
