My computer has become bossy!

I know this is a silly question - but - since I downloaded IE6 my computer has refused to allow me to open any attachments at all! Smeg the thing!

I have gone into its stupid security settings and down-graded tham a bit - but it did not help.

Can someone tell me how to regain control of the blasted thing?

What next - it won't let me have coffee? It is the thin end of the wedge, I tell you - today attachments, tomorrow I am grounded for not defragging often enough!

What do I mean? Well, when emails come with their little paper-clip icons, and I click on the icon (well, first I notice that the icon isn't dark, but pale - like when options you don't have in a particular application are pale) nothing happens - nothing! And if I highlight and click on open, nothing happens all over again.

Gauatam, it is my Outlook Express.

Thanks Setanta.

Mikey - this is ALL attachments! I am sending them to myself at work at the moment!

at the moment, only one person sends mail to me with attachments. not sure if it's on the other end or my end.
been driving me nuts ever since this crashed a couple months ago.
i'll have to dig a little deeper and keep up with this thread.

no, haven't seen it but will check it out now, thanks deb.

i should've listened to my kid's and tossed this one and bought a new one, would've been cheaper, better, faster etc, just like they said.

BTW the thread Setanta linked to is about a different problem.

Here's the answer (probably) to your problem deb:

Go to Tools, Options, Security tab, uncheck the radio button that says Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus.

Lemme know how it goes.
