I agree about rudeness. Rudeness isn't necessary.

What would you have done if you looked up the story and found it was an urban legend? (It is. I got it off Snopes.)

I would have given you the link, and warned you about snopes.
(Never heard of snopes til this thread.)

I suppose I should truthfully add that I would have experienced pious delight, in the privacy of my home.

OK... that's basically what I see happening here. Links were given. Warnings were made. There was some rudeness, to be sure, but the central point stands -- this was partisan, and inaccurate, and the fact that it appeared in Human Interest doesn't mean that no response should have been given.

Lash,
The place for certain topics is not defined by you.

You stated that "this was not the place", you did not state that you "think this is not the place". You did not state "I think certain forums are not the place for debate" you simply gave a list of forums and said it's not the place for people to debate.

This is not an opinion: the places you defines as being places where debate should not take place are places where debate can and will take place.

This is an opinion: I think that is the way it should be.

I really don't care if you opine on this, what I do care about is that you keep repeating that this is "mot the place" for people to vociferate.

Then, why the problem. That was my point.

No it wasn't! You went around telling people who you yourself said were not being rude not to post here because this wasn't the "place" for their opinions.

You must have thought I was attempting a coup.

If it doesn't have a link, it's obviously an opinion. It's ridiculous of you to act as though I was trying to direct the rules on this Board.

Mine was a distinctly minority view, but a view all the same.

Not the place for rancorous insults.

Aw, we can all debate and still be friends, can't we? If not I take it all back and now love the guy and vote to massacre Saddam and friends.

I just wrote a book, trying to explain what happened here... (lots of PMs and, I surmise, misinterpretations...)

Decided to keep it simple.

This thread was not about Bush to me. It was about a nice lady with an unpopular post, being insulted.

Thus, edgarblythe, I am happy to tell you you need not fall on your ideological sword for the sake of peace.

I'd posted on about page four, or so, that peace had appeared and all rancor was gone; the thread was light-hearted and fun, then Craven showed up...

I am at peace. Booman and BillW cannot abide your switching parties. And your 'humble in defeat' statement scares me. COUNTER INTELLIGENCE!!! A SPY!!!

(But, I thought it was funny.) (And nice to try to make peace.)

I just barged in here without reading the preceding posts. I don't even know what the arguing was about. I guess you might call me the invisible man.
