Works in progress.
Where I live, when workers are repairing the road, the above notice is put up. Should it be "Work" instead? Thanks.

Work is being carried out on Main Street next week. This comprises removal of the road surface for a distance of 100 metres, excavation of a ditch, burial of a drain pipe, restoration of the road surface and reapplication of road surface markings.
