The original story by Hans Christian Andersen

In lovely weather country;golden corns, green oats and haystacks piled up in the beautiful meadows ,there was a stork walking a round. He was chattering with his Egyptian language. He had learnt it from his mother.Under the sunny weather, there were corn fields and delightful meadows which in the midst of them there were deep pools. We were walking up to the pleasant old-farm house. From the house down to the side of a deep river grew some burdocks's leaves. They were so big that a child could stand upright uneder them. And overthere,in the snug retreat,a duck was sitting, watching her brood to hatch. She was tired and the hatching took a long time, but she was waiting. The other ducks were swimming about in the river while others were climbing the slippery banks. They sat under the burdocks's and gossiped with mother duck. After a while and at length, the eggs started to crack. The little living creatures were coming out with its helmet on head. They started to "peep..peep" and the mother started to "quack..quak".The little ducklings were looking around them in surprise.Their mother let them do this because the green colour is good to the eyes."How big is the world?",said a little one, realising the difference between the egg he was in a little while and the roomy place he is in now."Do you think that this is just the world?","wait until you see the garden,it stretches beyond the parson's fields",replied the mother. But,she was concerned about the last egg and declared that this would take some time. She then, seated on her nest again.

questions:

1) Which sentences is correct and why:

Green is good for the eyes.

Green is good to the eyes.

2) Wait until you have seen the garden.

Wait until you see the garden.

3) What does "walking a bout" suggest in a sentence?

1) "Green is good to the eyes". To say that green is good for the eyes is to say that the colour green has some beneficial physical effect on the eye itself, as in "Vitamin A is good for the eyes". In this context we wish to imply that green is simply pleasurable to the eye, thus "good to the eyes"

2) "Wait until you see the garden" is more correct in that it implies that something will happen or change upon seeing the garden.

3)Firstly, a bout should be written about, it is one word. If you separate 'a' from 'bout' you change the meaning of the phrase. "Walking about" implies that one is walking in a random or directionless manner, or that one's destination is unclear, as in "I saw a man walking about the room." This means the same as the phrase 'walking around'.
