Hi to all. "Don't have winny the pooh," but do have something far worse. winsrm.32dll it is my computer twice and Norton. Spybot. Adaware or SpySweeper cannot delete it. Any ideas please?
No ideas but that's a damn nice avatar you got there. Welcome
Restart in Safe Mode and run a scan and delete it.
If this doesn't work then use the following:
Click Start/Run and type: regsvr32 /u C:\windows\system32\winsrm32.dll
(I suppose you are using XP and your XP partition is C)
Then click OK to confirm
Then update Norton and run a scan then you'll be able to delete it

Sorry to say,it won't work!
I am using Windows XP Prof. I tried 5 times to get in safe mode by booting and as it was starting up clicking F8 when it said PLEASE SELECT OPERATING SYSTEM, but it never sai that, it just kept saying Welcome Windows!
Next I typed in Click Start/Run and type: regsvr32 /u C:\windows\system32\winsrm32.dll and after it all worke and I clicked on OK, it said it could not find winsrm32.dll
Quote:PLEASE SELECT OPERATING SYSTEM
Do you have more than one operating sytem installed on your PC?
winnie the pooh
No, I just have win XP Prof. I have two hard drives local with Win XP Prof and the other just for back ups etc.
Also, try as I might, I cannot get it into safe mode. I have rebooted 6 times and pressed F8 at starting up. The last time I kept pressing F8 continuosly but no safe mode!
Cheerio
Normally you should press F8 continuously as your PC boot and then you'll be presented with Advanced Boot Options:
1- Safe Mode
2- Safe Mode with Networking
3- Safe Mode with Command prompt
4- Enable VGA Mode
5- Last Known Good Configuration
6- Debugging Mode
7- Enable Boot Logging
8- Starts Windows Normally
With Up and Down arrow on your keyborad, you should choose Safe Mode and then press Enter (be sure the Num Lock is OFF elsewhere Up and Down arrow won't work). You'll be presented with a screen like this:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\ntoskrnl.exe
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\hal.dll
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\kdco
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\config.system
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS.siside.sys
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\atapi.sys
Wait a little bit (your PC might seem freezing) but it will boot into safe mode in 1 or 2 minutes.
Press Ok when a dialog box remind you that you are in safe mode.
Please let us know if this worked.
