I often surf the web, and I'm either looking for informative sites or those I can link clients to.I rarely surf the web as an online- shopper.
But last night , I decided to send a gift ( flowers,a plant or something to the effect) to my aunt and uncle whose my family had payed a visit recently.So,I looked at the major search engines under the word " ordering flowers online".I went through the most of the top sites , but,I was dismayed because whenever I visited a site, I found obstacles to making a simple online- transaction !
questions:
1) which is the best sentence to say below :
* I found obstacles in making a simple online-transaction.
* I found obstacles to make a simple online-transaction.
How about:
I found obstacles to making a simple on-line transaction.
(Technically, on-line should have the hyphen, although it is by now probably acceptable to dispense with it. However, online transaction does not need a hyphen, as it is not a compound word.)
Does this mean that my writing is correct?
Well, yes and no. The preposition is wrong in the first sentence, and the verb form is wrong in the second sentence. The sentence i wrote uses the correct verb form from the first sentence, and the correct preposition from the second sentence.
