Edit (Moderator): Moved from Forum Help to Computers

HI lads, I bought a computer with a dvd rom and cd writer already installed and I have never had a problem. I just got a dvd writer and I cannot use together with the dvd rom. I can use one or the other but not both. Anybody know why it doesnt install both?

Thanks

Check the Slave and Master jumpers on the back of the DVD writer.

The concept is each EIDE controller can handle 2 devices: one Master and the other must be Slave.
If this rule is not respected your drive will not be detected.

So if your CD-ROM is Master then the DVD Writer must be Slave, and if your CD-ROM is Slave then the DVD Writer must be Master

before i touched anything the dvd rom was the master and the cd writer was the slave. all I did was get out the cd writer and put in the dvd writer so now the dvd rom is master and dvd writer is slave but dont work.

Thanks for the reply
