We are allowed to ask for help with this homework. Part of it is asking people and finding the right people. I thought this would be an excellent site as generally I dont know people who would be able to know this information. if you know anybody who I could get in touch with I would even appreciate that.

After thinking long and hard about this, doing research on line and over the phone to the aforementioned places, the answer I come up with is...

7. Yes, that's right. 7.

I also googled for hours. I conducted indepth research concerning the average income / wage levels of the countries noted. I did extensive mathematical calculations and none of my calculations match any of the multiple choices given. Gosh darn, this is a dilemma!

I hope someone else will spend hours and hours of time researching this "really hard question" and provide us with the answer. Good luck!

I think it's A merely on the basis of not thinking Australia and New Zealand wages are that different.

I have re-calculated, and I was wrong that first time. I'm sorry. The correct answer is "false".

First, Kicky: LOL

Second, lacey_ward: I did not spend hours googling for you. I was only kidding. You will achieve greater educational benefits in life if you make it a practice to do your own school work. Enjoy!

Agree with Craven because that's the approximate difference between the Aussie/Kiwi currencies.

If I had to guess, I would say (A) because I am thinking NZ wages would be close but maybe slightly lower than the Aussies. Based on the other answers, (A) seemed the most likely. The rest of the numbers meant absolutely nothing to me - I wouldn't have a clue.

EDIT: Agree with Craven and Jer!

Asia Wise Competition
Quote:
The Asia Wise Competition

The Asia Wise Competition is a research-based program supported by the Victorian Association of Social Studies Teachers. The program is designed to improve students' information literacy skills in History, Geography and Asian Studies. Rather than just a memory test, the Asia Wise Competition assesses students' research, analysis and interpretation skills.

There are 50 multiple-choice questions that require students to use any resources available to find the answers. It is definitely not a memory test. Students can have up to four hours to research the answers and the teacher can set the times to fit into your timetable or homework program.

***

The competition can be completed anytime between 2 August and 13 August 2004.

***
First, to augment the usual Asia Wise Competition, we are offering a free introductory program called Find It - Social Sciences. This online program lets students register, download a set of questions and submit their answers online.

Second, is a new real-time, online competition between syndicates from all over Australia called The Great Race. Syndicates have one hour to answer the questions and the first syndicate finished with all answers correct will win the $1700 prize, sponsored by Heinemann. Date - 20 October 2004.

urafilthycheater:

The web page provides that the student may use "any resources available." However, the test is designed to evaluate the student's research, analysis and interpretation skills. If the student is using a discussion forum to entice other people to find the answers, then the student's ability is not measured. Additionally, the student fails to learn the necessary research, analysis, and interpretative skills necessary to enter "The Great Race" (scheduled for October 20) and successfully compete for the prize money.

Therefore, urafilthycheater, I don't think you need to worry about students like lacey_ward beating you out of the prize money. Work hard on honing your own research and interpretive skills and you will do well on the competition.

For the online competition, the World Fact Book might be helpful. I think it was Craven who provided this useful internet resource to another poster: The World Fact Book
