Hi Guys

Don't know whether I'm in the right place but I need to make an index for a book on my WP.

I've been through it manually and have it all written down but can't get the WP to put the subject on the left side of the page and the numbers at the right side. If I change the margin then the whole line goes to the right. For instance, I want:

Mary ..................... 4
Fred ................... 9

But get:

-------------------------------------- Mary .....4
-------------------------------------- Fred ......9

Can anyone please help? (If it's relevant for you to know, I have an iMac)

Deadline's midnight tonight!

Can't you make a table with two columns and align one to the left and one to the right?

You can use rows to line them up.

I don't know how to say this without making myself look a total idiot, but I'd never even noticed "Tables" before and wouldn't have known what it was if I had seen it. I thought I'd be fiddling with the wretched thing all day.

I've tried it out and IT WORKS!

Dearest Craven, you're fantastic. You've saved my life.

THANK YOU

Now that's been sorted, my next problem is the Contents page.

I've already written it and simply have the page numbers to insert. Do I have to start from scratch or can I somehow put the tables around it?

Also, once I've done it, can I make the actual table disappear so it looks like a normal Contents page?

Thanks

You can copy and paste your text inside the table, thereby eliminating any need to retype.

And to make tables invisible set the borders to 0.
