I'd just like a quick definition of the difference between a registy value, a registry key and a registry file. Thanks. Excuse my silly question, I'm an end user trying to expand my knowledge.

Think...
registry key = a folder
registry value = what that folder contains.

Not sure what you mean by registry file, maybe the actual file where the database is stored? Or just a value that is pointing at a file?

Okay, key and value make sense. As for file, I'm not sure. I probably have the wrong term. I might be thinking of registry change.

registery file= file containing values to be inserted into the registry ending is .reg
