There is a debate regarding the morality of prostitution. On one side of the debate, prostitution can be degrading to women in particular, reduces them to sexual objects, and is often considered obscene. On the other side, prostitution may be pleasurable and takes place between two consenting adults. While prostitution is illegal (yes, even in Las Vegas), if it were legal, it might be easier to check for and reduce the risk of the spread of STDs

Explain where Utilitarianism would fall in the debate and why.
Explain where Deontology would fall in this debate and why.
What does this example reveal about the differences and similarities between the two theories?

@PocketDoor,
Utilitarianism: In the long run, even if it does not impact the extended well-being of the person asked to do the task negatively, does not benefit either party for the one to do the other's homework.

Deontological ethics: An internet stranger doing a student's home work would break the general rules of academic honor, and perhaps cast a shadow on the stranger's own past academic conduct.

This example, in particular, while it highlights the stark contrast between their basic principles, shows that they can agree in execution.
