Just saw she has died at age 86. All the pleasure she has given me as an actress - Fond farewell, Isabel.
I heard about it earlier today - seems like we've lost a lot of great artists in the last year or two.
I enjoyed her acting too. Not too long ago I saw her and Sherman Helmsley in a commercial, but I can't remember what they were selling.
Ah, I hate to hear that. She was one funny lady. You're right, littleK, a lot of really fine actors have gone to that great studio in the sky.
Should probably be in the TV forum but she has always been one of my favorite sitcom characters.
RIP.
Also, was a maid in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.
Weezy and George were doing the Old Navy commercials.
An amazing piece of trivia:
There was a twenty year age difference between the two actors, Isabel Sanford and Sherman Hemsley. I've always been curious about why these two were cast as husband and wife? Does anyone know?
I was sad to hear the news. So sad, I was inspired to paraphrase another dead Sanford: "Weezy, I'm comin' to join you!" She was awesome, and so was Redd Foxx. Please excuse my free-association, but man, it's been too long since sitcoms had any social commentary, and it feels like the death of an era.
I remember her as a bit actor in the movies by she'll always be Isabel Sanford.
I sincerely hope that she's fine with it because she will always always be Weezy Jefferson.
