There doesn't seem to be an 'about'
Who are the Experts that we are asking? Or are we all self-appointed experts?

@grammar-school-girl,
There's an About Us at the right-hand bottom of the page.
The term expert is used rather loosely although I am an expert in growing pineapples.
The forum is based out of the US but there are many posters from Europe and Australia.

The Anglophones who advise people on the English language are Americans, Canadians, English and Australians. People who are referring to usage usually note if it is American usage or British usage. The people who respond in almost all cases are either professionals in the appropriate fields, or university graduates, and usually both.

@grammar-school-girl,
Its an English language forum .

There are many experts and many knowledgeable amateurs . The beauty is you will never be stuck with just one answer, and a debate usually brings out the truth of the matter, whereas I have seen on other sites some absolute garbage presented as facts, and even wiki get it wrong on some points of a topic because it is edited .
