I still say it's all PR. I just can't believe that anyone so worldly could be so goofy.

I couldn't agree more.

That last weekend marriage struck a very sour note with the public. she had to do something.

She puts on a show of being ready to marry for love, but is seemingly forced by her family and management into a prenup, much against her wishes. This restores her in the eyes of a public angry that she would treat marriage so cavalierly the last time.

She stays with this guy for as long as she finds it amusing, (a year or so), and when she breaks up, maybe a couple of public incidents are staged where thee guy is mean to her in public, stomping off to leave her in tears.

Then she divorces him, grateful to her family for insisting on the prenup now.

Meanwhile, the greedy no-good, (in the eyes of the public) plays the heavy, hiring lawyers to try to get more than his $25 million so. Finally, he gets defeated in court, and takes the 25 mill.

Magazines run stories about the sadder but wiser Britney, and can Britney emotionally resume her career after such a public travail, etc.

Britney releases an album called Redemption and goes on all the talk shows out there to tell the world how she threw herself into her work to ease the pain of the divorce.

And so on and so forth. Very Happy

She'll get married again. Divorce again. Marry again. Divorce again. Have a child out of wedlock because that's just so cool these days. Whatever it takes to keep her name in the press.

Thanks to your gossipmongering, I'm developing an unwholesome interest in Ms. Spears and her goings on. Please continue to feed my horrid fascination.

I heard she's getting married again, and that it's going to be a "kabbalah wedding."

Lemme track it down:

Spears To Honeymoon in Brazil?

Pop beauty Britney Spears is planning an exotic honeymoon in Brazil with her fiance Kevin Federline, according to her pals. The singer is delighted Federline has agreed to celebrate their marriage in South America and is now trying to decide whether to stay in Rio de Janeiro, near the beautiful beaches in Bahia or in the Amazon rainforest. A spokesman for luxury travel company VIP Brazil says, "We could take them to Rio de Janeiro to stay in a private Copacabana penthouse, then be flown via helicopter to stay at a millionaire's private home in Buzios, where Brazil's rich and famous play. Our honeymoons are customized to meet the expectations of even the most demanding guest. They would be personally escorted by our English speaking tour guide."

How nice! Will guests be flown to Brazil or is this a well-constructed elopement?

What many people don't know is that Britney has an active life outside show business. While we only see the flashy side, little do most people know that she has an active career in solid state research and physics. Indeed, as a spur to her then future music career, as a child she invented the digital disk, so people would not have to listen to her recordings on vinyl or cassette.

I'm not sure you can accuse anyone of "gossipmongering" in relation to someone like Britney Spears.

Apparently, last year she had a lull, and there was some speculation that her career was flagging. So here is a picture of her in June 2003 during some awards show. Remember, she is onstage at a public event here.

As long as she's willing to halfway doff her clothing onstage, (not that I'm complaining), what advice can I give her that Randy Newman couldn't say so much better?

Baby, take off your coat...(real slow)
Baby, take off your shoes...(here, I'll take your shoes)
Baby, take off your dress
Yes, yes, yes
You can leave your hat on
You can leave your hat on
You can leave your hat on

Britney Wedding Back On But Rescheduled

Britney Spears will marry Kevin Federline in a winter ceremony, despite rumors they had cancelled their wedding. Reports yesterday claimed the pop princess had called off the summer ceremony, planned to take place in the garden of her Malibu, California home this month, after a row with Federline on the set of her new perfume advert. But a spokesperson for the singer insists the wedding is still taking place. Latest reports claim Spears has rescheduled the ceremony for the second time and the nuptials will now take place on November 20 in Santa Barbara, California. Her spokesperson says, "I don't know (the date). I am not involved in the planning and haven't received my invite yet."
