Spa electrical box with gfci

I have an electrical box for my spa with an audible alarm. It has a gfci switch inside with a disconnect handle. I recently lost and just replaced the disconnect handle and when I put the power back on through the breaker box, the alarm at the electrical box sounded. I tried pushing and holding in the gfci reset button for about 15 seconds but the alarm would not shut off and the reset switch won't stay in. Any advice what I can do myself to correct this?
