Pay no attention, Mr Anderson ... Mr Stillwater is simply baiting Dlowan, a prominent A2Ker who happens to hail from Adelaide.

Perhaps he was apprised in advance that he would likely not be interested in the Pimple of the Flinders . . .

The Old Dart.... I'm lost, but guessing you mean London. We have a guy in our office from Sydney who loves London - Cosmopolitan, nightlife, history, blah, blah, blah. He rents one room in a shared house for 150 pounds\week in North London - Zone 2 on the the tube (although he reckons it's a top notch house). Property is expensive to buy everywhere inside the M25 (motorway ring road that encircles London and it's suburbs). I use to live in a place called Wanstead (35 mins tube ride east on the central Line from Oxford Circus www.thetube.com)... two bed terrace house, small back garden, nice suburb. I reckon it'd set you back 250k pounds now. East of the City is cheaper than elsewhere.

You could try Wollongong, property prices half or less than Sydney (with exactly the same weather). $600 000 is right at the top of the line here, you could buy a palace. And you could still go to Sydney on the weekends for the night life if that's your scene.

Oh dear, Mr. Anderson, what have you begun? I'm thinking about posting a new subject: "Which Australian city is better than the rest of the ENTIRE world". That would get a few Australians going. (Heh Heh  )

P.S. Don't take 'em too seriously. We just love to boast.

P.S.S. Steve: The criminals were all British. Australia made 'em decent. Why do you think we call you guys pohms (Prisoners Of Her Majesty)! Very Happy

Melbourne vs Sydney
I asked the Sydneyite(?) in our office about the rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne and which City was a better place to live. He said there was no rivalry... Sydney knows it's better. I'm not sure if this is true or just a reflection of a Syndeyite's mentality? Anybody impartial out there...

In Australia tomorrow, Sydney will still be the biggest city in the country....Melbourne will still be bitter about it.............

Lol! Sydneyite mentality - and I suspect, your colleague's sense of humour!

Better is in the experience of the one doing the living.

EVERYBODY is peed off about the increasing Sydneycentricness here. Even some Sydney folk, cos the city is stretching its infrastructure.

I love Sydney - but you have to be rich, or prepared to live somewhere small and very basic, to really be in amongst it.

All in all, I would probably choose Melbourne as a personal ideal - if I could be right in the middle - in the inner suburbs.

But this is absolutely personal.

In the city in Adelaide id fine for me, much of the time.
