Hello, I needed to make a simple website for myself and get it up and running rather quickly and had about $50.00 to spend on it, so saw this program at Circuit City and began right away.

I am trying to design a simple, clean and elegant website. So far so good, except now I want to link to a smaller window, and the WEB EASY Software wont allow me to link to a smaller page....within the previous pages sized 800 X 600. It either makes them all the pages the smaller sizes, or all the pages the bigger size, I can't link to a smaller "window" from the original 800 x 600 size pages.

Also, for some reason when I try and "publish" it to a server (that they suggested) part of I EASY SITE Publishing, I can't get anything to work. HELP!

Should I just try a different program? I have no more money, and need to get the site up and running, does anyone have nay suggestions of inexpensive software I can download? ACTUALLY ANY help would be great! I am lost, stuck and frustrated as WEB EASY has a tendency to have no safety features what-so-ever, causing me to lose data without the traditional "Undo" feature. I have started and restarted about a hundred times. I am ready to throw the whole computer out the window!!!

As you can tell I am not well versed in Web Design, but have extensive knowledge in PHOTOSHOP, ILLUSTRATOR etc. I have Dreamweaver, but have NO CLUE as to how to get it to work, and the tutorials are of little help to me for some reason. Written very hard for me to understand. Maybe I am just not very computer literate.....OR I know just enough information to be dangerous, not enough to get anywhere! If anyone out there has any suggestions please *HELP*

Take Care, Julie

Why not just learn a bit of HTML?

Seriously, for me it's easier to learn html than how to use the WYSIWYG programs.

I don't know a whit about dreamweaver, I don't have the patience for it. So I code in a plain text editor.

If it saves html files for you, you can open them with notepad and change them (and also upload them to wherever you are publishing them).

For some people it is. It's about as hard as learning the BB code in this forum software. Just more extensive.

HTML files are opened by browsers. Editing them means opening them with a text editor or a WYSIWYG editor.

Dreamweaver is an example of a WYSIWYG editor. Frontpage is a more popular one that is easier to use.

I use notepad or editpadlite (another text editor).

You can ask here, or you can use your WYSIWYG program and peek at the code it makes.

There are also many tutorials you can find on the web.

I recommend that you:

1) find out where your curent program is saving the html files.

2) Open them in a text editor like notepad.

3) Ask for help here if you need to make html changes that you do not know about.
