What formed faults ?

Today I studied about geological faults and types of fault. My teacher showed us a video that presents 4 major types.

I would like to ask: what formed faults ? Is there any difference between the formation of each type ? And is river reletive to faults ?

there is a difference. It has mostly to do with the energy and direction the faults are moving or had moved.
