I'm sorry if there is another place for Shakespeare quotes, but I could not see it.
Anyway, I my quote is...
"Life is like a stage, and all the men and women are players."
I don't know what play it comes from though.
For your info:
All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts.
(William Shakespeare, As You Like It)
A nice one from Midsummer Nights Dream is:
Dark night, that from the eye his function takes,
The ear more quick of apprehension makes.
Wherein it doth impair the seeing sense,
It pays the hearing double recompense.
If music be the food of love, play on;
Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting,
The appetite may sicken, and so die.
That strain again! it had a dying fall:
O, it came o’er my ear like the sweet sound 1
That breathes upon a bank of violets,
Stealing and giving odour!
Twelfth Night. Act i. Sc. 1.
Above all else; to thy own self be true.
"What fools these mortals be!"
~A Midsummernight's Dream.
