hi all,
been having problems lately with a new toolbar thats decided to log onto my computer, i seem to get things like this all the time, then i get things up advertising sex products/pornography ,as my son is using this comp for childrens things i want to know how to get rid of pornographic sites either popping up or advertising ,or being linked when i look for a innocent site through google search.is there a way i can disable adult/pornography features on my pc.he is only five but is getting to the stage where he could accidentally log into these sites.i am using windows xp professional.
thanks in advance
Google has an anti pop-up feature you can download.
Can you be with him when he's on the PC?
iceman, Windows XP can be programmed to decrease spam. Look for your instruction book and put your shield on "High." Here's a link to help eliminate popups for "free(ware)."

thanks guys its not just pop ups but when i use google search for a site, this morning i looked up something for a shopping centre in the uk and one of the sites was .F??k women in this area.
i found it offensive as much as i am broadminded ,anyone of my children could have accessed this . is there anything on windows xp that eliminates this when you search the web??
i usually am with him when he is on but when things come up on screen even i dont expect it starts to worry me about how long it will be before an incident occurs.
well I am not sure if you can disable such sites in search features, but you can always have wider search - e.g. if you are looking for CD of R.E.M. in shopping mall "Sonic" in Manchester, put everything in search box - like: "CD, R.E.M., Sonic, shop, Manchester, England", then at least porn sites will be on other pages, because first results will be those that include all words from your search.
Of course, maybe there is something that disables it in search as well.
hey good thinking never really thought to be so precise, thanks
iceman,
Post a hijackthis log. If you do not know how to just ask.
And ignore the people who have no idea what they are talking about but insist on giving computer advice anyway.
Those people cause far more problems than they help with their unhelpful "advice".
