No need to worry about any of those 'US troops in POW abuse' scandals anymore. The security of Iraq will be the responsibility of the UK-based Aegis Defense Group who have a $300m contract:

Quote:
awarded by the US-run Project Management Office, part of the Coalition Provisional Authority, is understood to require Aegis to provide 75 close protection teams, each of eight men, for the companies that are keeping the oil and gas fields open and electricity and water supplies flowing.

The terms of the award, which is for "security and justice", also covers the implementation of security for prisoners and for the vetting of all local Iraqi employees.

Never heard of them? For Aussies the name 'Sandline' should ring a few bells. Dirty dealings in PNG, even dirtier dealings in Sierra Leona. Col. Spicer is either a 'former commando' or 'mercenary' depending on who tells it.

Either way - the President and the A-G can rest easy. Just tick the box marked 'Extra-judicial Treatment' and send a check off for instant results.

Aren't there a lot of problems with those private security companies in US prisons?
I remember having once seen a TV show covering a lot of abuses in American prisons committed by private companies who had replaced official officers in those institutions.
